About Coach Gabe
Coach Gabe's journey to founding Mindful Martial Arts is a unique blend of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and martial arts mastery.
A top graduate from Seabury Hall (2001) and Pomona College, Gabe's early passion for education led him to launch a successful tutoring business while still in college. His professional path then took him to New Zealand, where he excelled as a Senior Research Analyst at CBRE, earning regional recognition.
Seeking deeper meaning, Gabe embarked on a spiritual quest through Asia, studying meditation in retreat centers and monasteries. This journey reconnected him with his childhood spiritual roots, shaped by parents steeped in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Gabe's martial arts journey began over 20 years ago with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, training under high-level Black Belts across California, Hawaii, and New Zealand. This passion, combined with his experience as a Kids Jiu Jitsu Coach and Buddhist Kids Camp counselor, inspired the creation of Mindful Martial Arts.
What started as an after-school program has grown into a full-fledged martial arts and mindfulness training, now based at the Wisdom Flow Yoga studio in Pukalani. Gabe's teaching philosophy integrates academic rigor, spiritual practice, and martial arts expertise to develop children's focus, discipline, and confidence.
Through Mindful Martial Arts, Coach Gabe pursues his passion for improving children's lives, giving them tools to thrive both on and off the mat. His goal is to make this transformative program accessible to as many children as possible, supporting their growth and authenticity in the world.
